I Go Crazy – Paul Davis

Of course, the first FAWM song came easy. Now to back it up, right??? That’s okay. I finally got an embryo of something on paper this evening. It’s too early to say what it’s looking like, but I’m still in the game! In the meantime, the 70’s song “Cool Night” by Paul Davis sent me […]

That’s okay. I finally got an embryo of something on paper this evening. It’s too early to say what it’s looking like, but I’m still in the game!

In the meantime, the 70’s song “Cool Night” by Paul Davis sent me to YouTube so I could hear it again. But before clicking on that song, I was reminded that Paul Davis also wrote “I Go Crazy”, which I suddenly had to hear even more.

As I’m sharing all of my random inspirations this month, enjoy!

Warm Winter Blues – FAWM

When I saw that today’s FAWM challenge was to write a song about the weather, my original plan was to tweet the challenge, and then head over to Weather.com to get a few ideas. A friend on my twitter timeline was saying how it’s a warm February, and that it may reach 60 degrees in NYC today, and the title “Warm Winter” popped in my mind. I still surfed through Weather.com, but the idea about warm winters stuck. I then thought about what else could make a winter warm, and this song came out of that. Enjoy!

Warm Winter Blues

by Carla Lynne Hall

I’m wearing short sleeves in December
I got my love to keep me warm
I’m wearing short sleeves in December
I got my love to keep me warm
Who cares about global warming
when my man is big and strong

I’m getting out my bikini
I got my love to keep me warm
Well, I’m getting out my bikini
I got my love to keep me warm
Who cares that it’s January
When my man is big and strong

I’m naked in February
I got my love to keep my warm
I’m goin’ naked in February
I got my love to keep me warm
Who cares about the weather
when my man rocks me all night long

February Album Writing Month (aka FAWM) 2012

Happy February Album Writing Month! For the past few years, I’d start FAWM, but get distracted. This year will be different. I scheduled the heck out of January, so I could make room to create new music.

I’ve also been thinking about how I’d like to make music this month. For one thing, I’ve already decided to have a Google Plus songwriter’s circle with a couple of friends from Twitter. That will be my “Witness Protection Plan”, traveling partners to keep me accountable.

I was also thinking about the electric guitar that I won a few years ago. This would be a great time to learn how to play it 😉 To use it as an instrument for writing songs on. I also thought about the looper machine that I bought from my producer Christian Cassan, but have yet to use it. This month is a good time to learn how to use that to write songs as well. So I have some new tools for creativity. I’m psyched!!
